The Beginning: A Shared Struggle
In 2022, four friends - Muhammad Waqar Haider, Mohammed Ali, Kabeer Singh, and Adam Hassan - were working as sole traders, each struggling to make ends meet in their respective businesses. The rising energy costs were crushing small businesses across the UK, including their own.
Muhammad, running a small consultancy, watched his energy bills triple. Mohammed's family business was on the verge of closure due to unaffordable energy contracts. Kabeer Singh saw his sales commissions disappear as clients couldn't afford services. Adam was overwhelmed handling complaints from frustrated customers facing similar energy crises.
"We realized we weren't alone in this struggle," says Muhammad. "Every small business owner we knew was fighting the same battle against energy suppliers who seemed to care more about profits than people."
